Movies

So, as scheduled, Peter and I saw many movies Saturday and Sunday. We started Saturday afternoon, with Syriana at The Grove. Left me completely in awe. Great performances, very intense, and full of suspense and action. I would highly recommend it!
Then after a quick bite at Sushi Dan (only the Sapporo beer was good. Really, both our stomach got upset), we saw The Squid and the Whale, which we hoped we would enjoy more. Not bad at all, just didn't love it. At night we felt like watching something light, so we rented Mad Hot Ballroom. It took me a little time to get into it, but once I was, I was rooting and yelling for our team to win the big price. It's a documentary about ballroom dancing classes for kids in New York. Highly recommend it!
On Sunday afternoon, we made our way through Hollywood and it's road blocks due to the parade. We did made it to the Arclight on time, to down a beer before we sat down for Good Night, and Good Luck. We both enjoyed this film very much. It's extremely well acted, directed, and told, especially considering that I, as a import from Europe, didn't know anything about the McCarthy hearings. Go see it soon, because it's almost out of theaters and I want it to do well.
Now back to the Holocaust!

Post Thanksgiving

After the Thanksgiving celebrations, lots of eating, driving back and forward to Glendale for family events, it's now time to chill and relax! Peter and I are having a movie weekend, starting today with Syriana, followed by The Squid and the Whale, and then tomorrow Good night, and Good Luck. For a big movie fan like me, this is called heaven! Yesterday Peter, his father and myself saw The Ice Harvest, and it was really entertaining! Didn't know anything about it, missed the first 5 minutes, because 1) I got lost in Burbank 2)went to the wrong theatre first 3) drove up and down a parking garage which was full, but I still was able to enjoy the "film noir" kinda of movie. Oliver Platt is really amazing in it, so go see it!

Okay, ya'll, have a great weekend!

Time

Working on one of the last Dutch testimonies, so gives me a chance to write a post.
So Friday night was my "big" moment on national television! I played a waiter on The Ghost Whisperer, and had a great time doing that scene with David Conrad and Dan Lauria. This day was very important day with me, not only because Dan Lauria was great to work with, but this was also the day I got my third SAG voucher, which means I'm now SAG Eligible!I have Chad  to thank for that, so again, thank you Chad ! The last couple of weeks I've been working on starting a big Jaron promotion campaign, which include update of my website (thanks Mercury !), ordering pictures, scheduling to have new headshots taken, trying to get my commercial agent to represent me theatrical as well, ordering postcards and getting them out asap to all casting directors I've been submitting too with a short message that I'm now SAG Eligible. This all to be fully prepared for pilot season, and the time I'm unemployed.
For all of you who missed me Friday night, check out these stills, courtesy of Vanguard !

Good Excuse

Working on the German testimonies has been killing me for the past month, and I have 5 more weeks left, but there one big, huge excuse to end the silence at "What's your excuse", and that is to put CTo in the spotlight, because yesterday we celebrate her birthday at El Coyote (of course). So here's to you my lovely Carrie, fellow scorpio, and even same year of birth! Lots of love! Have a great time in Tunesia!

I'll be back soon

I started listening and cataloguing testimonies of Holocaust survivors in German a week ago, and it is much more difficult then the Dutch testimonies. They require my undivided attention, so I have not really time to blog while I'm listening. I'm also a little under the weather, have friends in town, my birthday this weekend, so...so goodbye for now, but don't worry, I'll be back soon...
Pause

Sounds like Mickey Rourke

Yep, I really sound like Mickey Rourke at the moment: my voice is so low and raspy, some call it sexy (thanks Yelena), some call it annoying (thanks Peter!). I've been struggling not to get absolutely bed bound sick for about a week now, but it's not really working. I've been taking many vitamins, DayQuil, NiteQuil, last week I was able to sleep alot last week. All this to try not to be sick for the weekend which was packed with social events. On Friday El Coyete with friends , Saturday dinner with Peter's friends Jason and Megan, and on Sunday my two friends from Amsterdam arrived in LA after two months driving through the States. They arrived when I was in New York, and we had a great time there. So this weekend, of course, I drank too much, slept too little, and am still under the weather. I can stil not be really sick till Saturday, because my friends are here till Friday, throwing a birthday party on Thursday, Friday is the memorial gathering for Patrick Kenney, and my actual birthday, so I can be sick on Saturday. Pfff, I wish it was already weekend...
