Moving forwards...

Only three countries in the world??? That's insane! I'm so proud that the Netherlands is one of them!
Spain is the 3rd country to approve same sex marriage

Let's make Zapatero our new hero!
"He also pushed through legislation allowing stem-cell research and wants to loosen Spain's restrictive abortion law."

Last night when I bought cigarettes, I got CARDED! I'M 30!

Ps: I'll quit smoking after 4th of July...

Nice day today

Today is a nice, productive day. It started with a long, but good rehearsal for the scene I'm putting up in class tonight (Mouring Becomes Electra). Arrived at work late, and decided to work on some Dutch testimonies today. Yesterday was a day when everything went wrong. It started with spilling coffee all over my passenger seat, then many technical problems with tapes at work, and a very difficult english testimony about a survivor dfrom Transnitsia (Romania). This testimony drained me completely, and put me in a bad mood for the rest of the night. I didn't leave work till 6:30pm (which is very late for me). Thanks to Fishering I got rid of my bad mood. He helped me clean my car, trained my dog, while I was studying lines, but honestly, just his presence already made me feel better!
But today seems to be going well. Work till about 6pm, class till 11:30pm, and then back home, where i hope Fishering will be waiting for me...:)
I'm a lucky guy...

Hilarious!

Okay, I already broke my promise about no more Tom, but this is freaking hilarious!

Foot in the air...

Gaby's comment was about the picture on the previous post (Gaby, start commenting in English!). So, to clarify: it's a picture of my foot with Paris on the background. Why this picture with this post? Have no f#cking clue! I felt this post needed a picture, and thought this was most appropriate. Don't ask me why, I'm not normal so my actions are unexplainable...

Putting it out there...

By the end of September this year my job at the Shoah Foundation is ending. I was planning on taking a couple of months off to focus on acting 100%. But I can probably only swing for one or tow months financially, so I'll be looking for a new job.
I need something very flexible, because on a average I go out on audition during the day 3 or 4 times a week. I have hotel management experience, other custom services experience, speak Dutch, German, Spanish and English. As said before, I'm looking for something flexible. I'm up for anything, waiting tables, working at Trader Joe's, preferably something that provides health insurance.
Let me know if you know of something!
Thanks!

Weekend behavior

Okay, during the week I'm being very healthy by eating healthy and exercising, to get back to my normal figure (I gained about 10 pounds during my trip to Arkansas). But then comes the weekend! Fishering and I both have such fun and busy social lives, we just eat, drink and smoke from Friday 5pm, till Sunday 10pm... We both realize we have to stop abusing our bodies like that, but it is fun though. This past weekend we've been working on Fishering's move to "Havenhurst Place", and of course with moving comes pizza and lots of beer! It took my almost all of Sunday to recover. By the way, The two Improv shows I went to were very amusing. Of course it's always fun seeing your friends on stage, but, and I'm not just saying this because they are my friends, my friends Corri and Timm were by far the best of the Improv ensemble of about 16. Corri's performance of a drunk auditioning for a movie part was right on, very grounded, a total 10, hilarious and so damn good! Improv is not easy, and can be very intimidating, but I'm proud of you both! Much love and respect!

Enough

Okay, I'm totally annoying the hell out of my friends (especially my dear Fishering) by talking about Tom Cruise. So I will stop talking about his insanity, "pseudo psychiatry expertise", him being brainwashed, and dragging poor Katie Holmes with him. I stated my opinion more then once at my blog, so it's pretty clear what I think of him now. Now I have to determine if I'm going to see "War of the Worlds" to support Steven Spielberg (because of the great work he's doing with the Shoah Foundation, and that he's basically paying my paycheck), or to avoid it, because I don't wanna see Tom face anymore.
Okay, that's all I will say on the matter (but of course I can make comments or your blogs about his brainwashed, insane, scary behavior:))...

MEGA Millions

Shit! Didn't win the MEGA jackpot last night! Maybe the regular lottery tonight!
Have a great weekend!

Almost Weekend!

This must have been one of my craziest, busiest weeks! Just when I decided after my Arkansas trip to take it a step slower, it seemed to get only worse. Had three auditions this week (yeahhhhh, I'm getting out there!), work, rehearsals for acting class (Mourning Becomes Electra, by Eugene O'Neill, does nayone know this? F#ck, it's hard!). So, I've been busy, but very happy, because it is all good stuff! I was even able to see Fishering twice during this week, which made me very happy:)...
So, in about an hour I can leave the Holocaust testimonies behind me for the WEEKEND! I'll start with taking my dog Sierra for a long walk/run through my neighbor hood, taking in the beautiful day! The tonight and tomorrow morning it's all about helping Fishering move his stuff to his new apartment. I'm already looking forward to the drinking with all our friends after everything is moved to the new place "Havenhurst Place". Then Sunday night (the 26th) going to support two of my friends in their first LA Improv performance. I've done this show, it's lots of fun, and it's free, so come and support my friends Timm and Corri at the NOHO Arts Center on 11136 Magnolia Blvd, in NOHO, on the corner of Magnolia and Lankershim. There is one show at 7pm, and a second at 9pm. I'm going to see both:) If you have no plans, come and check it out! It's FREE!

And once again....!

Tom, you're damaging your career and insulting, hearting and alienating (get it...alien...Brooke Shields told him to stich with Alien fighting..., no? I know...I'm a dork) everyone, except for Scientologists.
Check it out:

Today it's a toss between "White Shadows" and "Fix You".
Anyone going to see them on tour? Where? Irvine, San Diego? Timm, are we gonna get tickets?

Very interesting article. Please Read!

I know, it must be getting boring reading about Tom's latests insanities, but this article is really interesting. In War of the Worlds by the German political magazine "Der Spiegel", Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise are being interviewed. Tom is attacked about his "religion", and Steven is trying to save the interviewee by mentioning his great foundation, the one I work for, The Shoah Foundation !

Spring love!

Ahhh, summer is here, and June gloom has been very kind to us. Last weekend I went to the beach for the first time this year for a birthday party, and it was beautiful! Everyone seems to be in a better mood when summer is here (untill summer peaks and we get into the 100s, then everyone complains again). Spring and Summer also seems to work very well for Cupid! I'm still in love, even after almost 9 months! it's seems to become stronger and stronger every day. It's so new for me, but it makes me very happy:)
Reading blogs all day long (hey, I have to find some way of dealing with listening to Holocaust stories day in day out!), and it's great to read about people finding partners, or just reading about their perspective on the whole dating game. I wish everyone all the best in finding someone, falling in love, not being afriad to admit you're falling in love, and just do what feels good. It's better to love with the risk of being hurt, then never have loved at all.
After I met my love online I finally been able to convince my friend Gaby in Amsterdam to play the online dating game, and she (and I) are having lots of fun with it. I'm going to look at some of her "guys" profiles right now!

Excuses...

I shouldn't complain, because my life is great, but I'm struggling to not let myself caught up in the LA way of life...busy, busy, busy. I have an audition on Thursday for a film and have to prepare 8 pages of sides (very funny stuff), and also for class tomorrow I have to have memorized my scene (Mourning becomes Electra, by Eugene O'Neill, The Hunted, Act 3). I don't like meorizing lines, so I try to find as many things to do before I finally sit down and study. Then I also still have to start working on trying to speak like an American. Ahhh, I hate that I'm complaining so I won't. Time management just has never been my thing.
I can always do many thing at work while I'm listening to the Dutch Holocaust testimonies, but learning lines takes to much focus, so at work I can do at least other stuff like my finances, and writing and reading blogs!

I don't believe in coincidents...

Last Friday I had to drop of some items I bought for a friend of mine who is a pilot for an airline. One of his friends had a LA flight so I was dropping the stuff of at the crew hotel in Manhattan Beach. While I sort things out with the concierge, two (Dutch looking) girls walk into the lobby. One of them looks at me, and yells: "Jeroen!". I look at her and go: "Mirjam!" When I was a flight attendant at the same airline, I had one great trip to Beiing with her, and she lived in the same house as one of my best friends in Amsterdam. But now the freaky part: I was suppose to go to manhattan Beach on Thursday, but couldn't, so I went on Friday, my anniversary day of being in LA for 5 years. 5 Years ago, when I said goodbye to my family and friends at Amsterdam airport, Mirjam, as a flight attendant she had the access, walked me all the way to the gate, so I had a shoulder to cry on. Lost touch, and to the day 5 years later we meet again! We chatted for about 30 minutes and tried to catch up 5 years of our lives. I love these freaky little encounters live throws at ya! Oh, this is a picture this girl Mirjam took of me in 2000 in China:

Happy Anniversary to ME!

A couple of days ago, it has been 5 years ago since I set foot in LA to build a life here. When I tell people this, they don't really seem to care or think it's not a big deal. For me it is! If i look back upon the past 5 years, I've been through a lot. From heaven to hell and back, back to hell again, and finally after about 4 years I realized that LA is my home and I love living here! Being an immigrant is not easy, but I survived the tough part of it, and am now at a very happy place. I couldn't have done it by myself, and I consider myself extremely lucky to have met the most wonderful people along my journey through LA, but also the enormous support from a very solid group of friends in Amsterdam. Thanks to all of you...you who you are

Mr & Mrs Smith

Before you read this, rest assure, I won't mention any plot lines in this blog, so you could still go and see this film, if you really want to waste your money...
I was really excited to go see this movie, and even prepared myself for a possible dissapointment, but I thought "Hey, at least it will be fun watching two beautiful people". Well, no, that's not enough for me. It's starts interesting, leading up to their discovery, seeing the two beautiful actors play games with each other (which we've seen with far less attractive people in True Lies). Then the movie starts sinking towards the middle and just drowns at the end. The script has so many holes, and was obviously not the most important thing when making this movie. Question come up all the time, like who do they work for? There is no plot, and very weird for a movie: it has no ending. When I thought it was going to be over, Another weird storyline was thrown in, where the only funny things was a t-shirt Adam Brody was wearing in a scene. There are many explosions, bullets flying around and Pitt and Jolie still look pretty because after all they've been through, they just have some sexy scratches on their face. I know, I''ve been told by Fishering that I should not be so critical and see it for what it is: a summer blockbuster movie, but besides everything I mentioned before, it was just  plain, simple boring to watch. Very dissapointing, especially because I'm a big fan of Doug Liman (Swingers, Go, Bourne Identity), Brad Pitt, and Angelina Jolie.
No, please go and see it and give me your opinion. Fishering liked it, and it's obvious we don't have the same interest in movies, and by the reaction of the audience, many others liked it too. Unfortunately, I didn't.

How can we save Katie?

Katie lost cause?

Found the song I was looking for!

A couple of weeks ago, I published a post about "Promise Me" by Beverley Craven. Thanks to Amoeba (gotta love that store!), I found the song! I love the lyrics:

You light up another cigarette
And I pour the wine
It's four o'clock in the morning
And it's starting to get light
Now I'm right where I want to be
Losing track of time
But I wish that it was still last night
You look like you're in another world
But i can read your mind
How can you be so far away
Lying by my side
When I go away I'll miss you
And I will be thinking of you
Every night and day just...

Promise me you'll wait for me
'cos I'll be saving all my love for you
And I will be home soon
Promise me you'll wait for me
I need to know you feel the same way too
And I'll be home, I'll be home soon

When I go away I'll miss you
And I will be thinking of you
Every night and day just...

Promise me you'll wait for me
'cos I'll be saving all my love for you
And I will be home soon
Promise me you'll wait for me
I need to know you feel the same way too
And I'll be home, I'll be home soon

Awareness...

I was not really aware of what is happening in Sudan, because more attention is being paid to Michael Jackson and one girl missing in Aruba (don't get me wrong, I hope she is okay), then to the alarming situation in Darfur. Create awareness! Darfur

Went on a frustrated quest yesterday morning to go and find a copy of Coldplay's latest master piece, but it was sold out at several places. But I got my copy at Amoeba (love that place!).
I'm still discovering the beauty of the songs, but so far my favorites are "What If" and "Swallowed by the Sea".
Can't wait to see them live!

Ha!

I'm not the only one upset by Tom Cruise his actions lately. Let's hope Katie gets out of his grip before she gets brainwashed by Scientology (and Tom). Check it out: Free Katie!

Back from Arkansas!

I'll keep it short today. Got home around midnight last night, busy day today with appointments, back to work, checking e-mails, and regular mail. I had a great vacation! It was very relaxing, and let me tell ya all: Arkansas sure is pretty!
